ºº**Day Of the Dead**ºº
It is a holiday celebrated on November 1 st (all Saint`s Day) and November 2 nd (all Soul`s Dasy). In this day, Mexican people go to the cementery and spend time around relatives`graves and bring Cempasuchil flowers, candies, traditional food or pray for the deceased.
Also, in schools or in the houses; people build altars, where they put a dead`s photo, sugar skulls, cempasuchil flowers, candies, a Christian cross with salt, traditional food, bottles of tequila, atole, "bread of the dead" and so on.
Sometimes, people write litle poems called "calaveritas".
Like Halloween, children in costumes go door by door and ask for their "calaverita", which are candies.
Consequently, Day of the Dead is a traditional and funny holiday where you will wish to be.
ºº**Why people in Mexico celebrate "the Day of the Dead"? **ºº
People celebrate the Day of the Dead because indigenous people such as the Olmec, Zapotec. Maya and Mixtec used to celebrate the Deaths of their ancestors. For them, it was common to keep skulls as trophies and display them during the rituals to symbolize death and rebirth.
So, Day or the Dead is a tradition that comes from thousands of years.
